教育經曆

1982年畢業于華南理工大學高分子科學與工程系，獲工學學士學位，
1985年、1988年先後獲日本京都大學高分子化學系碩士、博士學位。曾在加拿大多倫多大學化學與藥學系從事博士後研究、日本NEOS公司中央研究所任高級研究員。

工作經曆

1994年7月至今曆任香港科技大學化學系助理教授、副教授、教授、講座教授。
2006年3月受聘為浙江大學"光彪講座教授"。

科研方向

（1）設計合成新型聚合單體和構築新型大分子
（2）開發适應多種官能團的立體有擇性聚合催化劑
（3）合成線性與超支化共轭聚合物與有機金屬聚合物和
（4）研制具有光電磁和生物功能的先進材料。
作為項目負責人先後承擔科研項目約30項，其中包括國家傑出青年基金（B類）1項、國家自然科學基金重點項目1項、國際合作項目3項、并作為研究骨幹參加"973"課題1項。發表學術論文300多篇，已被他人引用4000多次，h因子為46。應邀撰寫了16篇綜述文章和30多篇專著章節，在學術會議上作了130多場邀請報告（含17場大會報告和6場主題報告），擁有5項美國或日本專利。

科研項目

主要從事高分子合成方法論的探索、先進功能材料的開發以及聚集誘導發光（AIE)現象的研究。發明了合成炔類聚合物的新催化體系，開拓了從炔類單體制備線性和超支化高分子的新聚合途徑，制備了一系列具有光、電、磁、熱和生物活性的新功能材料。發現了反常的AIE現象、解釋了AIE過程的機理，并将AIE效應有效地應用到發光器件、化學檢測和生物傳感等技術領域。曾獲2007年裘槎高級研究成就獎、國家自然科學二等獎等。

獲獎情況

2007年獲國家自然科學二等獎、Croucher基金會高級研究員獎、中國化學會王葆仁獎和Polymer雜志社馮新德獎。現為美國化學會Noteworthy Chemistry專欄科學新聞撰稿人和多家國際科學雜志顧問、編委或客座編輯。
